I'm running the Lincoln Tunnel 5K race in April in New York City. If you aren't familiar with the Lincoln Tunnel, it's a long tunnel under the Hudson river that connects New Jersey and Manhattan. Every other time, it's packed to the gills with cars, but they're closing it for an hour or so for the race. I found this race through Runner's World.
This is one of those races that you do because you would otherwise never have a chance to run it. It's not everybody that can say you've run through the Lincoln Tunnel. It's not a long race and won't require any sort of training, but for what it lacks in distance, it makes up for in "kitsch factor".

That sounds like a really good time! Have fun with that!
Hey, that sounds like a pretty cool run. I stumbled onto your blog through another blog and figured I'd say hi. I'm a runner living in Georgia. I'm planning to do a marathon later this year. Keep up the good work!

OMG. I can't think of anything more horrifying. Other than a race on a bridge!!!
What happens if it caves in??? GAH!!!
Well. Have a great time!
That sounds like a fun race. You'll have to post some pictures of that one!
Thanks for stopping my my blog and a belated congrats on your first marathon finish. Welcome to the club!
Running in a tunnel? Sounds like a blast with everyone hooting and hollering all the way through it. Look forward to hearing how it goes!
Can't wait to read that report - I love running on roads and places which normally are off-bounds - a sense of adventure. And Shirley's right - the noise will be fabulous. Record it and send it to one of the podcasters!
That sounds SO cool! I hadn't heard about that one - I seem to only find out about NYRR events in NYC.
I'm planning on watching the Boston Marathon, so now the debate is whether to run that in the morning and head to Boston after the race, or stick with my original plan to leave on Saturday. I'll let you know if I'm going to be running though...
I ran this race a couple of years ago. It is pretty cool.
