Milestones on my way to LA

Every once in a while, I think it's good to talk about progress and celebrate victories, even if you haven't yet made it to your goal. In that spirit, below are my totals since May 2007.

Miles: 2,523
Hours running: 362:45
Calories burned: 351,759

As you know, I'm past Needles, CA on my way to Los Angeles, so that at least puts the mileage in perspective. Time-wise, I would have been running straight for over 15 days to get this mileage.

And I have burned over 175 days worth of calories on a 2000 calorie diet. In other words, I've burned nearly a half year's worth of calories in the last 3 years. Or, since I seem to be on this math kick, when I'm done, one out of every six days has been completely calorie free (1/2 a year out of 3 years).

This has been an exciting journey and I'm ready to run into LA to finish it in a couple of months. I'm now exactly 90 days until graduation, which means I have 90 days to get to LA. I have 213 miles left and that means I have to average just less than 17 miles a week to make it happen.

I'm feeling good and ready to see the end of the journey. Until then, I think I'll burn a few more calories.

90 days till graduation! I look forward to hearing from you in person about what's next. And what's next in running once you get to LA? More biking?

It's a pretty incredible goal you've achieved there - give yourself a pat on the back for it, it's a lot of hard work.

Yes, exciting to hear of your impending arrival in both LA and your graduation. Keep up the great work on both fronts, Greg. You are almost there!!
